How to Choose the Right Pixel Pitch for Your LED Display

7/30/2025

When buying an LED display board, one of the most important factors to consider is pixel pitch. Choosing the wrong pitch can result in a blurry image, or worse, overpaying for unnecessary resolution. Whether you are installing a digital billboard or an indoor screen, this guide will help you choose the right pixel pitch for your LED display.

What Is Pixel Pitch in LED Displays?

Pixel pitch refers to the distance (in mm) between the center of two adjacent pixels. It’s often written as P2, P3, P5, etc.
  • A smaller pixel pitch (like P1.5) = higher resolution = clearer images up close.
  • A larger pixel pitch (like P10) = lower resolution = better for far viewing distances

SMD vs DIP LED

7/29/2025

When it comes to LED displays, one of the most common questions we get is: What’s the difference between SMD and DIP LED? If you’re planning to invest in an LED display for your business, event, or project, knowing the difference can actually save your time and money.

What is DIP LED?

DIP (Dual In-Line Package) is the older, more traditional LED technology. These are the tiny colored bulbs you see sticking out of old-school electronic signboards.
  • Design: Each pixel is made of three separate LEDs (Red, Green, Blue) mounted side by side.
  • Brightness: Very high — suitable for outdoor use.
  • Durability: Highly resistant to heat and harsh weather.
  • Viewing Angle: Narrower (usually around 70°–90°).

What Colors to Use on LED Displays?

5/20/2025

When it comes to LED billboards, what you say matters — but *how it looks* can make or break the impact. One of the most powerful tools in visual marketing is color psychology. The colors you choose for your LED display can  influence decision-making and even drive customers straight to your door.

Here’s how to pick colors that speak louder than words:

🔴 Red – Energy & Urgency

Red is bold, urgent, and eye-catching. It’s great for:
  •  Sales promotions
  •  Flash deals
  •  Food and beverage ads
But be careful, too much red can feel aggressive. Use it for headlines, not the whole background.

In today’s fast-moving world, you have less than 5 seconds to grab attention with your LED billboard. Studies show 71% of viewers only glance at digital ads briefly—so how do you make yours stick?

At LEDSign, we’ve engineered high-impact displays for global brands. Here’s our proven formula for unforgettable LED advertising:

1. The Blink Test

Your message must be instantly recognizable at 60+ mph. Use this checklist:
1 Second: Bold brand colors/logo visible
 3 Seconds: Clear offer/call-to-action readable
 5 Seconds: Entire story understood

2. Movement That Matters

Animated ads get 400% more attention—but only if done right:
✅ Do: Subtle motion (pulsing borders, smooth transitions)
❌ Avoid: Rapid flashes (cause distraction fatigue)

Pro Tip: Use eye-tracking patterns—most viewers scan in a "Z" formation before focusing center.
